Magic: The Gathering is a collectable card game currently in its 12th(?) edition, and is considered the father of modern CCG's. (Some of you may be carrying a torch for earlier card games that never quite took off the same way, so let's just say this is the guy who stuck around to take care of the kid, yes?) It is extremely likely that a game of 1000 Blank White Cards will end up referencing this game or using one of its mechanics.
Some examples of card game tropes that Magic uses are:
- Most of The Basics.
- Deck
- Hand
- Pool (albeit slightly different)
- Draw
- Discard
- Turn
- Monster Card
- Life Points
- Mana (Resources)
